How to you change a light bulb?

I was trying to chnage a light bulb..ive never done this in my life and i pulled it now the bulb bit came out and the metal is stuck there..im trying to unscrew it and it wont move..How to you change a light bulb?first rule - don't touch the metal bits unless the power's turned off, or you may get a nasty surprise.

I don't know whether you're in the uk or outside - as uk lightbulbs are different to everywhere else as far as I know. Most other countries use a screw-in bulb - you need to turn whatever's left anti-clockwise as you look at the bulb-socket.

If you're in the uk, you need to push in whatever's left and twist it anti-clockwise about a quarter-turn and it should just pull out.

If in any doubt, contact an electrician. How to you change a light bulb?turn it off and then let it cool off

after you take it off carefully.... get the NEW light bulb and dont touch it with your hands.... get a cloth or something because the grease from your hands might mess it up.... also make sure you have the RIGHT SIZE, you might get the rightsize from the light bulb that was there before... then screw it in and youre done! How to you change a light bulb?Alright I assume you are serious. Unplug the lamp or turn off the power source, like flip the breaker in the basement so that ALL power is off. Then take a potato, yes, potato and grind it into the piece that is stuck. Once it is on tight, turn it like you would the lightbulb. WaaaaaLAAAAAA. Done. How to you change a light bulb?Hello Pink Petal,

I will assume you already have the replacement bulb of the proper type and that it has threads to screw in. Like most threads in our world, clockwise will tighten and counter clockwise will loosen. To remove the broken bulb make sure the power to the lamp is turned off, unplug it if you can. Once the power is turned off you can remove the broken bulb by pushing a potato onto the broken glass and metal and unscrew the bulb by turning the potato counter clockwise.

This way you will protect your pink petal fingers. How to you change a light bulb?TURN OFF POWER! grab an uncooked potato, cut it in half , use the flat side of one half and shove into the broken socket of the bulb, turn left (counter clockwise) to unscrew. How to you change a light bulb?Make sure the power is turned off! Then take some pliers and use them to unscrew the remaining parts of the bulb. If it is a lamp make sure to unplug it first. Also check the recommended watts and replace it with the correct wattage. How to you change a light bulb?Turn power off to house, switch off the mains

Use something to jam into remaining part of bulb, The Potato idea sounds good and unscrew it

Contary to some peoples belief the UK is not the only country to use the bayonet fitting. In NZ we predominately use the bayonet fitting although the edison screw fitting is becoming more popular

Main thing is Turn Power off, take care as bit of metal you are trying to remove is thin and very sharp, If all else fails get a sparkie your life is worth more than any possible embarresment at not getting the bulb out intact
